FLYING SPUR S
Overview
Powered by a 4.0 litre V8 petrol engine, the Flying Spur S combines the presence and power of all the cars in the Flying Spur range with stand-out style and sporting attitude. Design
The first thing you will notice on encountering this car is the high-contrast exterior detailing. The Blackline Specification is fitted as standard, which means that practically all the exterior detailing that is normally finished in chrome is, instead, finished in black. That includes all the bezels, door handles and wing vent covers. In fact, from the imposing matrix grille at the front of the car to the quad oval tailpipes at the rear, the only details that remain chrome are the Bentley badges.
But the imposing styling doesn’t stop there. An optional body kit adds sporting attitude, while 21” Five Tri-Spoke wheels, exclusive to Bentley’s ‘S’ models, feature a dazzling combination of gloss black and bright machined panels. The door mirrors have been finished in gloss black and both the front and rear lamps have been treated with a deep, dark tint.
Inside the spacious cabin, a range of design features exclusive to the ‘S’ models leave you in no doubt as to the car’s identity. With ‘S’ badging on the fascia and tactile Dinamica panels on the seat bolsters, gear lever and heated steering wheel, the entire effect is one of sports-inspired luxury, whether you sit in the front or the rear. Even the graphics in the driver’s instrument panel have been redesigned to match the overall theme.
Performance
The Flying Spur S is an incredibly powerful car. Available with a 4.0 litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine, it delivers the kind of performance that is virtually unheard of in the world of the luxury sedan.
The V8 engine delivers 542 bhp (550 PS). It can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.0 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds ) and take you all the way to a top speed of 198 mph (318 km/h)*. Handling and ride quality are equally impressive, thanks to the innovative Bentley Dynamic Ride anti-roll system, which uses a 48-volt electric motor to control the roll bars according to the demands of your journey. When gliding through the city or cruising on the open road, it allows for a soft, comfortable ride, yet the moment you take a corner at speed, the rollbars stiffen automatically, increasing the car’s stability and your sense of confidence and control.
There are a choice of driving modes, with the enhanced Sport Mode delivering maximum exhilaration, Comfort Mode offering a more relaxed ride and Bentley Mode offering a balance of the two. A fourth mode, Custom, enables you to select a mode you have preconfigured yourself, by choosing your own settings for the engine, transmission, suspension and steering.

Technology
Every Flying Spur S includes a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot – part of a suite of connected services that also includes Apple CarPlay*. In addition, there is a range of remote features that can be accessed using the My Bentley smartphone app, which allow you to locate your car and check its locks, lights and fuel levels, for example.
All cars are fitted with the City Specification as standard, providing you with a range of driver assistance systems aimed at making urban journeys easier. They include parking assistance, alerts to keep you safe when reversing or manoeuvring near pedestrians and hands-free boot opening. For easier driving on the open road, you can add the optional Touring Specification, which includes features such as a night vision camera, a head-up display, adaptive cruise control and Lane Assist.

Personalisation
The Flying Spur S can be tailored to your personal tastes in many different ways. Take the exterior paintwork, for example. When you add the standard range of colours, the extended range and the Mulliner range of finishes, you have over 80 colours to choose from. The standard 21” wheels are exclusive to the ‘S’ models and visually stunning, however you still have the option to upgrade to a 22” wheel, which is itself available in two different finishes, one featuring gloss black and the other Pale Brodgar Satin. The red gloss brake callipers fitted as standard can alternatively be commissioned in black.
Inside the cabin, your options grow from numerous to countless. The hard surfaces can be clad in the veneer of your choice, from a range that includes high-gloss woods, open-pore woods and technical finishes such as Dark Tint Engine Turned Aluminium. For an extra touch of luxury, you can also opt to add Piano Linen lacquer to the fascia and waistrails. As well as choosing the colours for your primary and secondary hides, you can choose additional piping and stitching options in contrast colours, including hand cross-stitching. Further options include a panoramic glass roof and the beautiful Bentley Rotating Display, which allows you to switch between the high-resolution central touchscreen and a veneered panel housing three handcrafted analogue dials, at the touch of a button. And when it comes to music, you have three options: the Bentley Signature Audio system, which is fitted as standard, the Bang & Olufsen for Bentley system and, for unmatched in-car sound quality, the Naim for Bentley system.
This is all just the beginning, however. If you wish to go even further, Bentley’s personal commissioning division, Mulliner, can help you choose bespoke features for your car. To learn more about the personalisation options available for the Flying Spur S, contact us today.
